Why can’t we be friends?

I am protesting the law that says the possession of marijuana is consider a criminal offence and one can receive a criminal record upon arrest. According to the Justice Canada 600,000 Canadians have a criminal records for marijuana possession. To make our society safer it would be a smart choice to make marijuana legal and decriminalized. Many powerful people in the government claim that marijuana kills braincells, it is a gateway drug, and that marijuana users become lazy and useless to society. That is not true because these studies and theories aren’t based on admissible facts that aren’t really facts at all and because of the prohibition this puts our community and children at a higher risk of being exposed to harder drugs such as cocaine and heroin.

THE UNION

The Union is a truly eye-opening movie. It reveals the unexpected truth behind the drug and gives the audience a more realistic perspective on the whole topic of pro-marijuana!

What would you do for weed?

In Vancouver, 4/20 has been dubbed the national pot smoking day. People gather from all parts of town and light up. Police and crowd control are there but don’t make any arrests because they are just looking our for public safety. The day before 4/20 which would be 4/19 I would set a up a protest and gather pot smokers alike. We would have a march and because it isn’t 4/20 itself I feel that a great ordeal would soon unfold. The positive outcome of this situation would that it would bring the attention of news casters and citizens of Canada. The negative outcome of it could be that me along with a few other activists could get arrested for possession of marijuana etc. Overall I feel this event would benefit the pro-marijuana people out there in our society and would bring light to this benign issue.

Marijuana was the main thing that promoted non-violence amongst the youth, because as soon as they have it, they — first of all have to laugh on your first experiences. There’s nothing else you can do but laugh, and then, when you get over it and realize people aren’t laughing at you, but with you, its a community thing, and nothing would ever stop it, nothing on earth is going to stop it, and the only thing to do it find out how to use it for good, or for the best.” -John Lennon

Let’s gain a little PERSPECTIVE

My family would see my actions as positive. I feel very passionate about this subject because being a teenager, I am exposed to the drug trade and by legalizing marijuana I would remove the mixing of the black market of hard and soft drugs. If I got arrested for my protest then it would benefit the cause in proving that the government would lock up a minor for protesting but don’t really deal with the issue at hand. The government uses children as a means of trying to convey there unfair statistics which are that only 3% of children in drug treatment programs are voluntary and the other 97% have been told to go there by a parent or judge. And with this, the government can put this statistic out there in the world that is invalid and proves nothing.
